Jon Husted

Jon Allen Husted (born August 25, 1967) is an American politician who has served as a U.S. Senator from Ohio since January 2025. Raised in Montpelier, Ohio, he graduated from the University of Dayton.^[1]

Husted began his political career in the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served from 2001 to 2009 and was speaker for his final four years, and then served in the Ohio Senate from 2009 to 2011. He was Ohio secretary of state from 2011 to 2019. He launched a campaign for governor in 2018 but withdrew from the primary to join Mike DeWine's ticket as the candidate for lieutenant governor; the two were elected in 2018 and reelected in 2022.^[1]

On January 17, 2025 Husted was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by JD Vance and was sworn in on January 21. He is running to complete the remainder of that term, having won the Republican nomination in March 2026.^[1][2][3]
